Mission
Statement: The Friends of
the Gingerland Library is dedicated to stimulating growth in
library resources and facilities.
The Friends seek to heighten community interest in
Gingerland Library and to support academic programs by funding
library
collections
and facilities.
What is the Friends of the
Gingerland Library?
The unique quality of the public
library is that it allows the entire community to develop roots.
These roots are not bound by a common religious belief or
political position, but are a free expression of concern for the
common good.
Friends contribute to the
cultural opportunities of their community by sponsoring book
fairs, exhibits, story hours, and countless distinguished
programs. Friends use their imagination and energy to emphasize
the conviction that books and other library resources afford
residents of our community a matchless means of enriching their
lives and of acquiring a greater understanding of the world in
which we live. We
are a non-profit community-based group dedicated to supporting
the Gingerland Library and guiding input into its enhancement.
We are firm believers that an institution is only as
strong as the community that supports it; therefore, we are
committed to helping this diamond in the rough achieve its full
potential. Our
purposes include providing financial assistance to the library,
to promote the library as a learning center for all citizens in
the community, and to act as an advocate for improved library
services
Friends freely probe all kinds of
possibilities, always in the spirit of enhancing the role and
impact of the library. The
library is not a place, it is a process, a process that should
be open to serious and playful possibilities.
It is this “fun” dimension that makes active
volunteer participation more palatable to many individuals.
It also opens up creative thinking without boundaries
allowing the exploration of the outer edges of library potential.
