Why
is the Friends of the Gingerland Library important?
The Friends’ organization is
the difference between the library being an average library and
being a very good library. The
Friends really do make a difference.
All money raised by the Friends is spent for library
services that are available to the patrons of the Gingerland
Library. The
organization, through a broad-based program of service to the
library
- Provides
sources of significant funding for the enhancement and
enrichment of the library process.
- Advocates
and encourages local officials to provide reasonable funding
in the local library budget.
- Purchases
materials and equipment for the library and provides
resources to improve the facility and develop the
collection.
- Sponsors
a gifts and memorials program that provides the library
purchasing power beyond its government allocations.
The library’s gift program raises funds for the
purchase of otherwise unattainable books, and manuscripts.
- Publicizes
the library’s resources and services as well as
acknowledges the generosity of its donors through the
Friends’ newsletter.
- Sponsors
programs for the community.
- Organizes
special fund raising events benefiting the library
endowments and programs.
- Provides
funds, volunteers and programming for the library.
- Our
volunteers help with shelving books, with library programs
and assisting the librarians.
